6. Tennessee Riverfront Ross’s Landing

Ross’s Landing is a popular waterfront destination in Chattanooga, Tennessee. This popular top free thing to do offers a variety of fun events and activities throughout the year. Ross’s Landing is a very romantic location in downtown Chattanooga and happens to be the place Steve proposed.

Visit The Passage while at Ross’s Landing.  The Passage is a large set of waterfall stairs built as a remembrance of the Cherokee Indians.  Here the city pays tribute to the thousands who died along the trail of tears.

The Passage is hard to find, but most easily accessible from Ross’s Landing.  In the Summer these stairs turn into a cascading waterfall where children play in the water.

Greenway is a little out of the way, but its off-leash dog park will make this popular for those traveling with the pups.  Greenway Farm and off-leash dog park is located in Hixson, TN, 20 minutes from downtown Chattanooga.

On hot summer days, the splash pads of Coolidge Park are the perfect way for kids and adults to cool down. Coolidge Park was developed as part of a larger effort to revitalize the North Shore waterfront area of Chattanooga.  It worked!

Spoiler Alert: Though I still believe Ruby Falls is worth the visit, as a local I have heard the falls are pumped in from a holding tank.

Southside’s Kinley is a wonderful boutique hotel, but did you also know there is a great speakeasy located inside the lobby? Chattanooga has a few speakeasies, but the Kinley is the most romantic.  For an evening of romance book a room and slip behind the bookcase for a cocktail.

The Unknown Caller Bar and Lounge is a hidden bar at 715 Cherry Street.  Right now this bar is the most popular, at least judging by the line to get in.  Guest don’t just walk in either, there”s a whole secret process and payphone that needs to be figured out first.

I’m saving the best for last!  The number 1 place I would book a stay in Chattanooga, TN, is The brand-new Chalet. The Chalet Hotel used to be the Choo Choo and it has been completely remodeled, including the train cars.
